China Funeral Association,a national social organization of funeral industry in China, was established in September,1989. It is engaged in funeral affairs under the leadership of Ministry of Civil Affairs. The major tasks include:

• Understand and reflect the funeral and interment obtains employment in the unit , employee and loses the demand for one, put forward the suggestions of the reform of funeral and interment trade , development to government department, help the government to implement the implementation of the administrative licensing and relevant regulations , policy of the funeral and interment trade.
• Make the technical standard norm of funeral and interment trade, manage the professional technical committee of national funeral and interment, responsible for the work of the secretariat of technical committee.
• Responsible for the education , training of employees of funeral and interment trade , undertake the specific qualifying examination affairs of funeral and interment trade, responsible for the work of the secretariat of examination committee.
  Responsible for the quality control of funeral and interment trade , accept the coordination of the dispute , compensation c aused by products and service quality.
• Safeguard members and legitimate rights and interests of obtaining employment in the unit, mediate the dispute in the trade, coordinate the relation among this trade and other trades.
• Help the government department to carry on the funeral and interment and manage the inspection and assessment of organization's operation qualification , bear the evaluation of the grade of service organization of funeral and interment and assert.
• The organization develops and popularizes advanced technology and scientific findings , run funeral and interment equipment and articles to exhibit and sell, offer information interchange , jointly operate to manage etc. to consult and coordinate and serve, cite it to the trade collectives and individuals with outstanding contributions.
• Carry on the professional guidance to the work of the local association that will participate in one.
• Fulfil association's member's duty of international funeral and interment, strengthen the exchange and cooperation of the same trade with foreign countries, launch relevant personnel's going abroad to be trained , receives a training and academic exchange activity.
• Bear wo rld and transport the corpse business to manage , is responsible for Chinese world's transporting the work of the corpse network service centre.
• Undertake other items that the government trusts.
• The members of China Funeral Association may be divided into two categories: group member and individual members. Any units engaged in funeral service and funeral research, in manufacturing and marketing funeral equipments or products, in funeral administration, can apply to become a group member. Any funeral workers and individuals who are interested in funeral work can, under the principle of voluntary participation, app1y to become a individual member.

There are now 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in the country, out of which 30 have established their local funeral associations.

The present board is the fifth one since the establishment of the association. There are now 449group enterprise membership and 141 directors of which 51 are executive ones.
